Instruction was provided at three universities on the “Mechanics of music,” focusing on musical activities, and a survey was conducted among the students after the instructions had been completed, to measure their level of understanding. This paper classified and discussed the answers regarding musical pieces with elements of “repetition” and “change” in the “Mechanics of music,” based on the evaluation criteria for measuring the level of understanding that had been designed by the authors.
