Yú lán Guānyīn) is an original Chinese form of Kannon that played a significant role in the feminization of Avalokiteśvara. A new version of this Kannon arrived in Japan around the beginning of the Edo period, influencing popular beliefs.\nThe purpose of this paper is to clarify the process by which this new female Kannon took root in Japan by examining the iconographic characteristics and legends associated with extant Fish Basket Kannon statues and similar Buddhist images.\nThe survey revealed that the Chinese Fish Basket Kannon developed a distinctive set of visual characteristics, including everyday clothing, a high coiffure, bare feet, a fish basket, and glimpses of jewelry. This expression of feminine beauty, originating in China, is also commonly observed in Buddhist statues in Japan. Additionally, the legends surrounding these statues indicate that they were brought to Japan via Nagasaki during this period. In other words, the feminized Kannon statue circulated within Japan, contributing to new developments in folk beliefs.\nThe existence of these feminized Buddhist statues in Japan serves as evidence that, even during the period of national isolation known as sakoku, Japan maintained connections with the East Asian maritime world.","subitem_description_language":"en"}]},"item_10002_full_name_3":{"attribute_name":"著者(英)","attribute_value_mlt":[{"affiliations":[{"affiliationNames":[{"affiliationName":"KYOTO BUNKYO UNIVERSITY","affiliationNameLang":"en"}]}],"alternatives":[{"alternativeLang":"en"}],"familyNames":[{"familyNameLang":"en"}],"givenNames":[{"givenNameLang":"en"}],"names":[{"name":"KOBAYASHI Yasumasa","nameLang":"en"}]},{"affiliations":[{"affiliationNames":[{"affiliationName":"KYOTO BUNKYO UNIVERSITY","affiliationNameLang":"en"}]}],"alternatives":[{"alternativeLang":"en"}],"familyNames":[{"familyNameLang":"en"}],"givenNames":[{"givenNameLang":"en"}],"names":[{"name":"HAYASHI Masakiyo","nameLang":"en"}]},{"affiliations":[{"affiliationNames":[{"affiliationName":"CHUBU UNIVERSITY","affiliationNameLang":"en"}]}],"alternatives":[{"alternativeLang":"en"}],"familyNames":[{"familyNameLang":"en"}],"givenNames":[{"givenNameLang":"en"}],"names":[{"name":"NAKAYAMA Noriko","nameLang":"en"}]}]},"item_10002_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"京都文教大学","subitem_publisher_language":"ja"},{"subitem_publisher":"KYOTO BUNKYO UNIVERSITY","subitem_publisher_language":"en"}]},"item_10002_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"item_10002_source_id_9","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"2759-2413","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorAffiliations":[{"affiliationNames":[{"affiliationName":"京都文教大学","affiliationNameLang":"ja"},{"affiliationName":"KYOTO BUNKYO UNIVERSITY","affiliationNameLang":"en"}]}],"creatorAlternatives":[{"creatorAlternativeLang":"ja"}],"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"小林 康正","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"KOBAYASHI Yasumasa","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"familyNames":[{"familyNameLang":"ja"}],"givenNames":[{"givenNameLang":"ja"}]},{"creatorAffiliations":[{"affiliationNames":[{"affiliationName":"京都文教大学","affiliationNameLang":"ja"},{"affiliationName":"KYOTO BUNKYO UNIVERSITY","affiliationNameLang":"en"}]}],"creatorAlternatives":[{"creatorAlternativeLang":"ja"}],"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"林 雅清","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"HAYASHI Masakiyo","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"familyNames":[{"familyNameLang":"ja"}],"givenNames":[{"givenNameLang":"ja"}]},{"creatorAffiliations":[{"affiliationNames":[{"affiliationName":"中部大学","affiliationNameLang":"ja"},{"affiliationName":"CHUBU UNIVERSITY","affiliationNameLang":"en"}]}],"creatorAlternatives":[{"creatorAlternativeLang":"ja"}],"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"中山 紀子","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"NAKAYAMA Noriko","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"familyNames":[{"familyNameLang":"ja"}],"givenNames":[{"givenNameLang":"ja"}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2025-03-27"}],"filename":"sr26_12_kobayashi_hayashi_nakayama.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"2.5 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","url":{"url":"https://kbu.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/2000214/files/sr26_12_kobayashi_hayashi_nakayama.pdf"},"version_id":"fbd33b28-eb68-4ae9-a024-e1e8876e0c40"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper"}]},"item_title":"江戸期初頭における魚籃観音像の流通と東アジア海域世界―近世における新しき女神の誕生―","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"江戸期初頭における魚籃観音像の流通と東アジア海域世界―近世における新しき女神の誕生―","subitem_title_language":"ja"},{"subitem_title":"The Spread and Influence of the Fish Basket Kannon in Early Edo Japan and the East Asian Maritime World","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"10002","owner":"11","path":["247","1742971813768"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2025-03-27"},"publish_date":"2025-03-27","publish_status":"0","recid":"2000214","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["江戸期初頭における魚籃観音像の流通と東アジア海域世界―近世における新しき女神の誕生―"],"weko_creator_id":"11","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2025-03-27T08:12:30.993373+00:00"}
