| 内容記述 | This study concerns a field survey on the historical transition of early childhood education and care(ECEC)in Thailand. This study utilizes a KH Coder analysis of the survey, and compares the current state for nurturing the ability of ECEC teachers to respect diversity to an ideal goal of moral education. As a result of the comparison, the following three observations can be made: (1)Moral education of children to instill a sense of morality has traditionally been taught at home and in Buddhist temples. In recent years, children are also taught in preschool education, in both Buddhist schools (kindergartens and daycare centers) and also Christian schools, attempting to help families instill children with a sense of morality. (2)High-quality moral education promotes children’s understanding of religious and cultural backgrounds and proper behavior. Kindergarten A, which aims to reach a higher level of moral education, has developed a curriculum which teaches moral standards in an environment that includes music, sports, and the arts. The goal is to help children become better members of society. (3)Kindergarten A also emphasizes human resource development in the educational process to support the development of children’s potential abilities and emotional stability. This school has been creative in ensuring that all children receive high-quality support according to their developmental stage. There are also future issues: (1)In Japan, inclusive childcare is being introduced. In order to respect diversity, how can we actually develop and achieve moral competence? Can we cultivate compassion so that children can think from another person’s point of view in order to live a better life? As this survey indicated, there is a lot to learn from Thailand, which respects diversity. (2)There is a serious shortage of human resources for childcare in Japan. In this survey, there were many similarities between early childhood education in Thailand and Japan. Future issues include not only having childcare workers with foreign roots to make up for the shortage of human resources, but also developing human resources who can learn from other sources of educational support. (3)We analyzed the early childhood education and childcare efforts at kindergarten A, but due to certain limitations in the survey of some other kindergartens, we recommend additional surveys and analysis. |
