| 内容記述 | This study analyzed the changes in care of an elderly person with dementia through investigation carried out in “Dementia Care for Elderly People Seminars” held once every 2 months and attended primarily by care providers in welfare posts at the “Sun Village Comprehensive Care Center”. The structure of this study is as follows. First, the method of case investigation using SST (Social Skills Training) implemented by the authors and care providers at the “Dementia Care for Elderly People Seminars” held at the “Sun Village Comprehensive Care Center” was introduced. Next, the characteristics of an elderly person with dementia who was taken up as a case study were identified through video analysis based on participant observation in group home care and case investigation records, and changes in care resulting from assessment in the institutional environment were analyzed. The result shows that the process of case investigation of implementation of SST and “dining setting eco-map and conversation recordings” facilitated care providersʼ awareness of settings that were threatening to the elderly person with dementia. Such awareness engendered an attitude of thinking about the situations and settings that would provide the best possible environment for the elderly person with dementia. The present findings suggest that, in the future, it will be increasingly important for institutional care to be developed to facilitate cooperation between care providers and residents and to allow residents to control the situation rather than forcing residents to adapt the control imposed by the institution. | |||||||||||
