内容記述 Many teachers with rich experience will retire soon, when they reach the age of retirement eligibility, and this will lead to a sudden increase in the number of young teachers at elementary schools. Thus, it will become even more important for training courses of elementary school teachers to foster practical teaching skills. However, some teachers say that the content of their university courses was not helpful once they started teaching at a school. Moreover, there are reports of cases in which new teachers cannot perform their job well. University courses for teachers offer new subjects such as “Special Needs Education for Developmental Disorders,” “The Cooperation of Kindergarten and Elementary School,” and “The First-grade Problem in Elementary School.” What are the knowledge and skills elementary school teachers need to master in the training course in order to be perform their job well? They need knowledge and skills to educate their students well in the classroom during their first year of teaching. In the course currently taught at universities, practical teaching skills are insufficiently developed. Therefore, the university may be blamed if a newly employed teacher fails to teach successfully. Then, what abilities are needed for a teacherʼs first year of work? These include the “Ability to teach,” “Ability to manage the classroom,” and “Ability to support the growth of the child.” The university instructor should help students master the foundation of these three abilities. By doing so, the new teachers will be able to adapt well to their place of work in their first year of teaching. In order to teach these three abilities, it is necessary to improve the university curriculum and method of instruction immediately.
