内容記述 | This paper reviews some teaching methods based on cognitive linguistics, which deals with the concepts that underlie the actual forms of languages. The assumed language schemas help generate language in our brains, and therefore, helping language learners generate and improve schemas should enhance their communicative competency. Based on such ideas, this paper first describes the way the accurate knowledge of grammar is generally highly valued in societies in a similar way “culture” was once regarded. The emphasis on grammar may lead to making some Japanese students feel that they need to communicate in accurate grammar. This paper then examines some English sentences to suggest that language schemas sometimes play more important roles than the understanding of syntactic construction in the process of comprehending given sentences, and therefore, acquisition of schemas of the target language will help improve the comprehension competency of learners and thus help them acquire the target language. Finally, in the aim to provide some helpful clues in teaching English, some teaching methods, which are expected to help the acquisition of the schemas of the target language, are discussed. | |||||||||
