| 内容記述 | The quality of living space is one of the important factors which influence the way in which one's personality develops. There are two aspects in the concept of living space. One is the ordinary space where one spends one's daily life and the other is the sacred space, which doesn't belong to one specific member of one's family and which is cared for by all family members. This study focuses on the latter type of space and attempts to determine whether the presence of a sacred space in one's family life influences the degree of family cohesiveness and one's altruistic tendency. The results showed that family members of the high score group on the sacred space scale are significantly more cohesive than those of the low score group and that the high score group on the sacred space scale is significantly more altruistic than the low score group. Moreover it was revealed that whether or not one has in one's house a concrete object such as a butsudan (Buddhist altar), kamidana (household Shinto altar) or some pictures of one's ancestors has some influence on the psychological qualities of family cohesiveness and a tendency toward altruism. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
