内容記述 | Toh-i Yoshio, undeniably one of the most respected educators of Japan(1912-1991), an on the spot teacher by profession of Japanese language, had struggled through his tormenting self-finding process for the long sought basic cornerstone of youth education in Japan. In this thesis I have focused upon the concept of 'Inochi', which had brought not a little impact upon the practicality of today's youth education in Japan. His thoughts are represented by such terminology as 'Education of life', 'Education of heart' and 'Education to nurture the burgeoning strength of each and every individual to develop'. For the completion of my work, I have depended not only on such materials regarding his works and studies heretofore published but also on some of the new findings of his works discovered after a thorough revised survey. My findings from the studies reveal the following; Toh-i's concept of 'Inochi' in education was formed through his unflinching confrontation and struggle with his search for the meaning of his own life. He apparently had realized that the foothold of men grounded upon the dual structure of elements within and elements without, centering one's own being. Obviously the dual structured concept was influenced by his own religious landscape of human life, transcending the analytical meaning of life obtained from the natural science or biology. Aside from the conventional thoughts and ideology, he was aroused by his revelation that a universal force did exist to transform the de-facto being of every man's life and being. This revelation became the bottom line of his challenging work in developing his thoughts on the modalities of practical education that consequently weighed much more on the meaning of life, supported by reverence and deep respect to the whole being of each child. | |||||||||||
