| 内容記述 | This paper attempts to discuss the arguments surrounding the Affirmative Action Program and Diversity in American higher education. The anti-Affirmative Action trend in the state of California led to the following decisions: the approval of the antiimmigrant Proposition 187 (1994), the University of California Regents' vote to end Affirmative Action at the University of California (1995), and Proposition 209 (1996), which concerns the end of discrimination and preferential treatment. As a result of these decisions many institutions were forced to "mend or end" Affirmative Action, and seek other ways to pursue the goal of racial diversity on campus. This study describes the situation in the San Francisco Bay Area at the time of the campaign of Proposition 209 from some students' points of view and examines the strategies to achieve diversity in higher education. It concludes that the Affirmative Action Program has become unpopular as a means of achieving diversity; however,new strategies have not worked out well. | |||||||||
