内容記述 | This study reviewed mainly empirical studies and books based on clinical practice on terminal stage cancer patients. First, the structure of an acute care general hospital and the psychology of terminal stage cancer patients was summarized. Next, the psychological supports for terminal stage cancer patients were implicated, as a framework for psychological support, the following seven attitudes were required: (1) Keeping a promise to see the patient at a set time and offering time was considered to help the patient feel secure; (2) It is necessary not to isolate patients. As a suggestion to this, it is important to understand the patient as a "single person" by carefully listening to the patient's life history and other information, emphasizing the patient's individuality and dignity; (3) The basic attitude is not to “do” something, but to “be” with the patient without doing anything, and it is necessary to spend a lot of time with the patient to foster the feeling that the counselor will be with them until the end of their life; (4) By getting to know the patient, the psychologist will have an opportunity to pay more attention to the patient, and listen to the patient's story. In addition, by continuing to embody the psychologists' interest in the patient, and their willingness to visit the patient, the patient can have a sense of being needed and feel that he or she is socially alive; (5) Through the establishment of a relationship that is not rushed, there is room for humor and laughter, which open up dimensions different from reality and can become therapeutic resources; (6) Psychological support must be part of the medical team and integrated with routine care. Psychologists also need to play a coordinating and connecting role among patients, families, and health care providers; (7) To maintain a stable attitude and to enable them to be with the patient until the end, psychologists need to continue to improve themselves in knowledge and skills. | |||||||||
