内容記述 | The revision of the Course of Study for Kindergarten in Japan emphasizes the importance of child-centered childcare, with the entire class playing together as a whole becoming less common. Games of physical expression, which are often practiced as whole-class activities, are considered childcare on a deeper level because they are done “together” with the teachers. As such, this paper aims to clarify the aspect of “togetherness” and its significance in games of physical expression. First, we examined the treatment of “togetherness” in the Course of Study for Kindergarten in Japan. As highlighted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, we confirmed that in any childcare situation, a site with a variety of “togetherness” activities, starting with those done “together” with friends, is “an environment with educational value.” Next, when exploring practices of games of physical expression in kindergarten classes from the perspective of “togetherness,” we were able to confirm a stepwise aspect in tune with the children’s development, where various forms of “togetherness” in interchanges between the children were born and matured from the “togetherness” of imitating teachers. In addition, looking at the practice of sports days where all kindergarten children play “together,” we saw that interchanges between different age groups benefitted all kindergarten children and matured as part of the children’s independent activities. We were also able to confirm aspects of co-creating “together” in the practice of games of physical expressions. In short, children began to feel familiarity with other children from moving around “together” as well as gain experiences of individualization and socialization as they co-created by being active in games of physical expression. Moreover, in this sense, this was proven to be “an environment of educational value” for children. Therefore, we confirmed the great significance of providing opportunities for kindergarten teachers to conduct games of physical expression “together.” | |||||||||||
