内容記述 | This paper considers ways of supporting students who are involved in late night part-time jobs. There are a number of students who have difficulties with college work due to late night part-time jobs. This research paper is based on two hypotheses: (1) Students really want to exert their energy on their part-time job rather than on college work. (2) Students do not have correct scientific knowledge related to desirable sleep and eating habits and/or they are indifferent to making proper use of it. Questionnaires were given to about 600 hundred students in 4 different educational institutions. The first hypothesis was not supported. Among 8 choices, the bulk of students chose college work as what they would like to exert their energy on. However, the proportion of students who chose part-time job was higher among students with late-night jobs. The second hypothesis was partly supported. Nearly 60% of all students had not thought of applying scientific knowledge to their lives. This proportion was even higher among students with late night part-time jobs. Nearly 60% of all students knew when growth hormones are secreted, but the proportion of students with correct answers was slightly lower among students with late night part-time jobs. Taking other findings in this survey into account, the author made four proposals to improve students’ attitudes towards scientific knowledge, and ways for universities to support their lives in college. | |||||||||
