内容記述 | As children grow up, they shed their former world of self-centeredness and differentiate between oneself and others. Thus, with the establishment of their ego, when they look at themselves and the world around them anew. They are likely to encounter fundamental questions such as, “What is I?” and “What is the World?” The question, “what am I?” has been examined in the study of ego-experience, but questioning the existence of the self inevitably leads to questioning the world that contains me. In this study, we first examined these “mysteries of the world” to which children are thrown with reference to the findings on ego-experience. In particular, the study of solipsistic experiences revealed that children who are confronted with the mysteries of the world, somehow try to confront them in their own way, making full use of their powers of thought and imagination. The study then referred to two stories, “Penguin Highway” (Tomihiko Morimi, 2010) and “Never Let Me Go” (Kazuo Ishiguro, 2005), which highlight the encounter between children and the mysteries of the world, and further discussed them. In “Penguin Highway,” the existence of others was one of the mysteries of the world. In “Never Let Me Go,” the relationship between the mysteries of the world and growing up was examined. There are no answers to fundamental questions like what is the world and why do I exist, and we must live in an unanswerable and irrational state. The same is true for children, irrespective of how young they are. It is necessary for adults to reassess their children as comrades who live today with the same mysteries in mind. | |||||||||
